Let us Pray:
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of our hearts be pleasing to you my Lord my rock and redeemer.

Amen.

Good morning everyone.

There are so many directions that I could go with this Gospel reading. We start with the procession of Christ
coming into Jerusalem to the reading of His crucifixion. What I want to talk about is the last three verses of the
Gospel reading.

44It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,
45while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Then Jesus, crying
with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Having said this, he breathed his last.

The verse that I want to talk about is the significance of the temple curtain torn in two.

Just a little history the high priest was the only person who would go behind the curtain.
For him to behind the curtain to the holy of holies. No one was allowed back there.
Nobody was worthy enough.

Jesus had a different opinion about that. That is why I bring up the tearing of the
curtain.

Jesus wants us to go behind the curtain and see God how he sees us. With Grace, mercy,
hope and love. God sees us as his masterpiece. NO junk. It’s hard to imagine that. Jesus tore that
curtain so we can step up and be close to God. Not for some people but for all people. Some days
it’s hard to look in the mirror and see that I am a masterpiece that God made. We all are.
We are both sinners and saints. We simultaneously saint and sinner. Because of the Holy Spirit
and the work of Christ we are justified saints. The sacrifice God made to send his son to die for us and
for that reminder when we take communion this is the body and blood of Christ. We remember the
love God has for us all and that we are His masterpiece. I have a video to show you that explains
all this and delivers this message so much better than I would.

Remember we are God’s masterpiece and we belong. We need to remember to let God work in our
lives and help God shape us. Don’t be afraid. What I would like for you to do is to look at that cross
up there and on three I want all of y’all to say, “I am God’s masterpiece.”
Ready...1..2..3.. “I am God’s Masterpiece.”

Yes, You Are!!

Amen.
